Building an Inclusive School
How can students play an active role in creating a more inclusive school community? Intercultural Sprint is a powerful, student-led workshop that uses design thinking to explore real issues around diversity, inclusion, and belonging, empowering students to become changemakers in their own school.
About
In this workshop, students tackle the guiding question: How might we create a more diverse and inclusive school?
Using design thinking principles, they identify barriers to inclusion—such as racism, discrimination, or unconscious bias—and collaboratively brainstorm, sketch, and pitch ideas to make their school more welcoming for everyone.
Students begin the process in their regular classroom through guided discussions and reflection. During the full-day workshop (delivered in person or online), they refine and present their ideas, with an emphasis on creativity, empathy, and real-world impact. Teachers receive a follow-up toolkit to help turn student ideas into meaningful actions within the school.
This program can be tailored for one class or delivered across multiple year levels, fostering school-wide dialogue and shared ownership of inclusive change.
